Your Thoughts and Ideas
Since there are thousands of US-56 stakeholders and it is difficult to meet with everyone at once, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) and its partners are conducting a survey with corridor residents to gather their opinions about US-56. They are also interviewing community leaders from Douglas County, Johnson County, Baldwin City, Edgerton, and Gardner who represent a wide variety of interests (emergency service, business, development, education, civic, and community) to discuss corridor issues and concerns.
Community leaders from each county and city will serve on the plan’s Advisory Committee and will participate in meetings throughout the planning process. The committee is charged with the responsibility of communicating the thoughts and ideas of their organizations to KDOT and its partners. The Advisory Committee will also participate in workshops with the stakeholder groups.
KDOT, its partners, the stakeholder groups, and the Advisory Committee are working hard on the US-56 Corridor Management Plan, but we cannot do it alone. We need to hear from people like you who have an interest in the US-56 corridor.
As the plan moves forward, this web site will allow you to track the progress we are making toward completing the US-56 Corridor Management Plan. You can also use this web site to share your specific thoughts about the plan with KDOT. Tell us how the corridor affects you and your community.
